What does an interlock monitor switch do in a microwave oven?
In general, the interlock monitor switch in a microwave oven is the switch that shorts the line out (knocking out the internal fuse) in a microwave oven if the door interlock switch stays shut when the door is opened. The interlock monitor switch is the monitor for the door interlock switch. Let's look at things more closely and see what that means.The door interlock switch opens when the door opens, and this prevents the oven from coming on when the door is not shut. That way no one gets zapped. Simple. The door interlock monitor switch will close when the door opens, but this switch closes after the door interlock switch opens.
