This means that your over all accumulative grade point average cannot fall below a 2.5 (2.0 = "C" and 2.33 = "C+") so essentially they're meaning your grade cannot fall below a "B-".

An accumulative grade point average. Is the average of all grades combined between how ever many semesters or years you've completed.

As an example:

9th Grade - 1st Semester

  • English - A
  • Math - C
  • Science - B
  • Social Studies - F

and

9th Grade - 2nd Semester

  • English - A
  • Math - A
  • Science - B
  • Social Studies - B

In most GPA situations, each letter grade is awarded 1 point from "D" and adding a point each letter grade from there.

  • A = 4.0
  • B = 3.0
  • C = 2.0
  • D = 1.0
  • F = 0.0

so now we can calculate the GPA for each semester

  • 9th Grade Semester 1 = (4.0 + 2.0 + 3.0 + 0.0) ÷ 4 = 2.25 GPA
  • 9th Grade Semester 2 = (4.0 + 4.0 + 3.0 + 3.0) ÷ 4 = 3.5 GPA

The accumulative GPA is the average of all semesters. So we have to add both semesters' final GPA's together then calculate it's average.

  • 2.25 GPA + 3.5 GPA = 5.75 GPA ÷ 2 GPA = 2.875 Accumulative GPA.
