For a girl, ear piercing is usually for a fashion / beauty sense. The can now wear earrings, which is another accessory if they are fashion conscious. For some, it can show a coming of age, as many parents won't let a girl get her ears pierced until she is in her teens. Then it is like a sign of maturity. Others find it as a way to show their creative or rebellious side (as in multiple piercings, odd placements of the piercings, studs, large holes, ect.).

I have never heard of any taboo or sexual orientation reference drawn from such a piercing.
Back in the 90's, there was some silly myth about men piercing their left ear opposed to their right. But with piercings being so popular- you're pretty much fine doing just about anything!

∙ 8y agoabsolutely nothing other than she has one ear pierced... a fashion statement, perhaps? and do you mean only one ear lobe piercing, or only one top of the ear cartilage piercing? because although only one lobe piercing is rare, it doesn't mean anything I don't think. just that they didn't want both ears pierced.. and only one cartilage piercing is quite common and looks really cool. I've got one and no one has said anything bad about it to me. well, I hope this helps with whatever you want to know this for..

six weeks, think I changed mine at like five week though didn't make any difference ad my top ear piercing was quite painful for about a year never hardly wered it has the ear was sore after a day of wearing it and it is not a comftable piercing to fall asleep I as it digs In, if my top ear piercing healed up I would not get another one as really I don't think it is worth it to be honest
