It is rumoured (wikipedia trust if you like but can't be certain) that the book will be named Artemis Fowl: The Atlantis Comlex. It seems to fit as Artemis might end up in the prison in Atlantis with none other than the evil pixie lunatic: Opal Koboi.
It depends on what you like. The Alex Rider series has a more 007 secret agent feel and is more realistic. Whereas, the Artemis Fowl series is more boy genius feel but is sci-fi.
Because they are one of the few animals that can see a fairy when they are "shielding" Fairies in Artemis Fowl are also quite small so rats to them would be like average size dogs to us.
