worn torsen differential
Several possibilities: If you have an All Wheel Drive (AWD) model, it could be that the differential fluid is low or the differential gears or bearings are failing or one or both of the wheel bearings are failing. If you own a two wheel drive (2WD) model (which do not have a differential) it would possibly mean that the wheel bearings are failing.
You may need differential fluid...check that.
it sounds like a humming or whinning noise, what year is the truck if its from like 01 or up those trucks have a lot of wheel bearinig problems that some one might misdiagnose as a differential noise or it could be chopped tires making the noise.
All Ford Rangers have a rear differential , and if they are 4X4 equipped , a front differential also
i also would like to know since my 1966 nova differential busted :(
The rear differential pertains to a motor vehicle and means the differential that is situated in the final drive of the transmission assembly, found in rear-wheel drive vehicles.
The differential is the 3rd member of the power train: 1) Engine 2) Transmission 3) Rear end/ differential If you look under the rear (of a rear wheel drive) vehicle you will see a large ball with tubes extending to the wheels. Looks like and refered to as the "bango" that is the differential. Inside are the gears and bearings that control the actions of transferring power from the transmission and driveshaft to the wheels
The rear differential plug is located on the inside top part of the differential. Where the drive shaft connects.
