A spatula is a hand-held tool that is used for lifting, flipping, or spreading. Spatulas have a handle that is long enough to keep the holder's hand away from what is being lifted or spread, as well as away from a hot surface.

Hi there here is a picture of a plastic spatula. The plastic spatula is made because unlike wood it doesnt scratch not stick pans and doesnt get as hot.The spatula is used to lift hot or stuck food up by using a large surface area to disperse the weight of the food and not damage it.

The term spatula is used to refer to various small implements with a broad, flat, flexible blade used to mix, spread and lift materials including foods, drugs, plaster and paints. The term derives from the Latin word for a flat piece of wood

It is used for flipping things like eggs, French toast, or anything else that you need to turn over while essentially maintaining its flatness.
