How can you replace the front coil springs on a 1990 muatang gt with out buying the ford coil spring compressor?
**** BE CAREFUL DOING THIS YOURSELF ***** **** DO NOT ATTEMPT WITHOUT A COIL SPRINNG COMPRESSOR **** You DO NOT want to see what happens when you pry the coil spring out of there with a crow bar. Like those teeth and that pretty face? Dont do it.... The coil spring may decompress spring out and hit you in the head. It would not be pretty. Please take it to a shop and have them do it or worst ccase, buy the Ford spring compressor. It WILL be much cheaper than the medical bills or funeral expenses.

What special tools are needed to change struts on a 1996 Dodge Caravan?
The only, "special" tool required, is a spring compressor, for the suspension coil spring. Some parts stores rent/loan them out. If you are replacing the factory struts with,"quick struts" (preassembled springs, struts, and mounts) you won't need this tool. If not, using quick struts. You will need a spring compressor. You can take the whole strut assembly to a repair shop and they'll remove the spring for you. Don't attempt to remove the spring yourself (without a compressor), it is under a lot of pressure, even when removed from the vehicle, and you could be injured.

What tools would you need and how do you replace the struts on a 1999 kia sportage?
As far as tools go, your most important will be the spring compressor. You can pick up a pair from AdvanceAutoParts for about $40. 14mm sockets/wrench 23mm socket/wrench Also you can borrow a loan-a-tool from Autozone or Advance Auto. You pay a deposit for the spring compressor and you get your money back when you return the compressor.
How do you install front coil springs on a 1967 Impala?
That can be a very dangerous task. You will have to have a coil spring compressor. Jack up the car and use jack stands and NOT cinder blocks. Remove the wheel. Remove the shock absorber. Install the spring compressor through the opening and compress the spring. Put a hydraulic jack under the lower control arm. Take the lower ball joint loose and slowly lower the jack. Remove the spring and slowly release the tension until the spring is extended. Remove the compressor and install it on the new spring. Insert the spring back into the cavity and jack the lower control arm back in place and connect the ball joint. I truly do NOT recommend that you do this. It will be cheaper and safer to have a shop that specializes in front end repairs to do it for you.
