The specific system of vocational and technical education in America differs from state to state and regions of the USA. Some states begin vocational and/or technical education in high school most often in the students 11th and/or 12th years. This system uses either an apprenticeship training or vocational/technical college program for which the student can earn high school credits while earning a degree, certificate of proficiency, or similar diploma. The same type of apprenticeship training or vocational/technical college programs are available to high school graduates or anyone desiring workforce-related training. The 2009 Stimulus Funding enabled many ARRA-funded year long retraining programs for unemployed or displaced workers.

At the bachelors level, it is designed to be a five year program of study as a full-time student, and provided the student takes the program as prescribed by the institution.
I would like to earn a high school diploma
Definitely to train as a nurse. There are various programs: a 4 year degree where you earn a B.S. in nursing. A three diploma program sponsored by a hospital were you earn a diploma as an R.N., an accelerated program of 2 years wheere you earn a RN. A two year college program where you earn an Associate degree. Then you can train to be an L.P.N., a licensed practical nurse. This is an 18 month program. Some high schools have a program where the high school student attends a pre-clinical coursework as a senior then after graduating from high school, there is a 9 month course of clinical work. Then the graduate is an L.P.N. . A nursing graduate must pass the board of nursing test to be licensed in the state of graduation.
Typically, the bachelors degree is designed to be a four year program of study provided the student takes the program as prescribed by the institution.
In order to complete a degree, you must be matriculated in a specific degree program. There is no such thing as a non-degree program at colleges and universities. A student can be - in some schools - a non-matriculated student (not in a declared major), however it is not a program. Some individuals just like to take courses for personal enrichment, or specific training such as computer literacy etc., and are not looking to earn a degree.
id say the average program is about 500 dollars in total
