Usually behind the grill, in front of the radiator or to either side of the radiator.
If you look at the front grill, below the bumper, the small bulb like sensor is snapped into the lower drivers side there.
The 1985 Nissan 300 ambient air temperature sensor can be found on the bottom of the drivers side mirror. If you look at the bottom of the mirror housing you will see the sensor.

If you have a 1989-1995 model 325i, the ambient temperature sensor should be part # 65818350779. Best way to see a picture is do a Google image search on the part number. It will look like a plastic piece, black on the probe portion, yellow on the plug-in portion, with 2 round electrical connector pins.
It is located in front of the radiator. It doesn't look like much, just a little plastic thing about the size of your thumb with one electric plug going into the top of it.
Where is the engin temperature gauge sensor located on the 1999 cadillac catera?
The Ambient Temperature Sensor is located on the Passenger Side of the Grill. Look through the Grill near the Head light, you will see a black louvered panel. Behind the panel you will see the sensor sticking out. It is a black plastic knob looking thing with threads on it. If you pop off the grill, you can reach through the top and where the grill used to be, to remove it. Be careful not to break off the plastic tabs that hold the sensor into its socket.
The ambient temperature sensor in my 94 GS300 is located between the back side of the bumper and the condenser unit/radiator. It's about the size of a AA battery. That may be the best place to look.
It didn't look like anything as they didn't make a 1992 GTO.
