argos dies when his master Odysseus returns to him. no one kills him
Odysseus had bred and trained Argos himself, so Argos knew his master really well.
Odysseus cries a tear, but wipes it from his eye. Argos perks up at the vistor and wags his tail. He asks the swineherd Eumaeus about the dog, who tells him about Argos. When Argos recognizes Odysseus, he dies.
How does Argos knows that his master Odysseus has returned? He recognizes Odysseus's face. He recognizes Odysseus's voice. He picks up the scent of his master. He doesn't; he dies just as Odysseus appears.
When Odysseus comes home, the first creature he's actually happy to see is his dog, Argos, who has been waiting for 20 years for his master to come home. Since the suitors had taken up his courtyard, Argos was forced to sleep outside on a dung heap, which was the only heat source he could find. I suppose he symbolizes Odysseus' joy to see his home again, because Odysseus' is ecstatic to see him again.
Odysseus' dog, who dies of happiness. As soon as he recognises his master :'(
Odysseus is sad when he sees Argos, his old hound, because he remembers the loyalty and companionship they shared when he left for the Trojan War. Seeing Argos weak and neglected serves as a poignant reminder of the passage of time and the toll that his long journey has taken on both of them.
because his mum wont let him come out to play
Argos was Odysseus' faithful dog. He waited for his master's return to Ithaca for over twenty years, then when he finally saw him return home, he wagged his tail and died.
picks up the scent of his master
Argos is Odysseus' dog. He was a puppy when Odysseus left to fight and Troy. When Odysseus returned to his kingdom disguised as a beggar, he found that his dog was old and really dirty. Odysseus could not show affection to Argos or he would give his disguise away. But once Argos saw Odysseus, he thumped his tail and could barley lift his head because he was so old. He caught sight of Odysseus and painlessly died, for he was finally at peace because he saw his master again. It is a beautiful moment in the epic poem.
Odysseus trained Argos as a pup right before leaving for Troy,as a young dog he was the best hunter, chasign after the wild goats etc. When Ody finally returns, Argos is a wreck, lying in a pile of garbage from the house, "sick" from missing his master.
