it is expensive and well .............. RUBBISH
It is natural and it replaces the material lost by erosion.....but is does need constant replacement. - Costs about £3 per cubic metre.
Nourishment restores and widens the recreational beach.
Structures behind beach are protected as long as the added sand remains.
When erosion continues, beach nourishment does not leave hazards on the beach or in the surf zone. This is a big advantage when compared with "hard" beach stabilization structures like seawalls or groins. Seawalls may protect structures behind the beach, but they almost always cause the beach in front of the wall to become narrower. If erosion breaches the seawall, then debris from the wall will be left on the beach and in the surf. Since beach nourishment only puts sand on the beach, no debris is left when it erodes.
because its not harming anything by rebuilding it though it may put a little pollution in the air when you move the sand around to the top of the beach
i think because every time i look up beach replenishment i also see beach nourishment

Beach replenishment works by people quarrying rock crushing it into sand or shingle then closing off a beach for a day or two and dump the sand evenly onto the beach. This can absorb the wave energy to help slow down erosion.
£1,000 to £5,000 approx.
Beaches do not stop erosion. A beach can be eroded by a heavy sea. Stabilizing the dunes behind the beach helps with the retention and replenishment of the beach sand

No, it's not a good idea. It's a huge waste of money. Beaches are NOT as some would like to think infrastructure, to be repaired. Beaches are part of the natural super structure, like glaciers or mountains or the sky. Thinking we can stabilize them is foolish and counter productive. It is we who must move back as the Oceans rise during the warming . The whole beach replenishment idea is an arrogant and expensive, but ultimately futile project that enriches a few and does nothing more then give the illusion of doing something for a few hundred very self interested politicians. It also has virtually no scientific basis or backing among coastal geologists. In summary, beach replenishment projects are essentially pork barrel politics @ their worst.
