; Blasphemers must be stoned to death.
: "He that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him." -- Leviticus 24:16 :
; Sometimes God kills newborn babies to punish blasphemer/s.
: "Because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die." -- 2 Samuel 12:14
To blaspheme is to say things which are not permitted by your religion.
If a Christian say: "Jesus Christ was not the Son of God, he is just a person", this is a blasphemy.
But a Christian can say: "Allah is not god, he is just a fictional character".
A Christian can also say : "Nyaminyami is not god, he is just made up".
If a Muslim say: "Allah is not God, he is just a fictional character", this is a blasphemy.
But a Muslim can say:" Jesus Christ was not the Son of God, he is just a person".
A Muslim can also say : "Nyaminyami is not god, he is just made up".
If a follower of Nyaminyami say: "Nyaminyami is not God, he is just made up", this is a blasphemy.
But a follower of Nyaminyami can say: "Allah is not god, he is just a fictional character".
A follower of Nyaminyami can also say : "Jesus Christ is not the son of god, he is just made up".
Speak irreverently about God or sacred things: "allegations that he had blasphemed against Islam".
To "blaspheme" means to speak against God or some other religious doctrine, or to speak irreverently against anything sacred.
to blaspheme = kheelel (חילל) (kh is a gutteral sound)

blaspheme
He didn't mean to blaspheme during the religious ceremony, but his inappropriate comment caused offense to some attendees.
I don't think it's a big deal unless you've harmed someone.

Polycarp
Blasphemeo is a Greek word that refers to "to blaspheme".
That would be St. Polycarp, an early Christian bishop and martyr who refused to renounce his faith during Roman persecution. He was asked to blaspheme Christ, but he declared, "Eighty-six years have I served Him, and He never did me any injury. How then can I blaspheme my King and Savior?" He was ultimately burned at the stake for his refusal.
It depends what you mean by blaspheme and which god you are talking about. Alexander gave all the gods their due respect. Blasphemy used to mean 'cursing a god with the god's name' - which is why in English we had such weird things as Jeez, Lawdy, Marry, Gawd, Zwounds (god's wounds), Crikey etc emerge - it used to carry the death penalty. Alexander is not recorded as showing disrespect to any god.
it dates back to before ww 1. When people were shocked and wanted to blaspheme but couldn't they would say "Judas Priest" instead. It sounds similar to jesus christ.
