Ultrasound (canine or otherwise) allows the veterinarian to examine internal structures such as heart, lungs, liver, tendons, etc visually to assess shape, size, texture, function, etc. It is used for a large number of reasons in veterinary medicine from assessing pregnancy to assessing heart function.
