I was chatting with a friend of mine the other day....we were discussing spell casting...and she said that her granny doesn't let her cast them because it is like getting a light in hell? And well....we were both trying to figure it out, but to no avail could we come up with an answer? Can someone enlighten us please?

I think what your Granny might mean comes from the expression to "light a welcoming candle in the window" It is a maritime tradition for lost sailors. A light to guide you to where you are going. It was a way for granny to say she thought casting spells would lead you to hell. Pagans nor Wiccans believe in the Christian hell and therefore cannot be frightened by the threat of going to a non existent place. Pagans and Wiccans certainly do not bully you into becoming a pagan or threaten you for seeking out different spirituality.

Are there any real easy spells that work?

Magic is something that is a bit more complicated than just saying "I wanna do an easy spell to prove it works!" Not to say you shouldn't take an interest in real magic, but it isn't something you can jump in and start casting spells. You need to do some research into what you are wanting out of these spells and why. If you start casting willy nilly and hurt somebody in the process, the karmic kickback will be severe. If you want a spell to work you have to use your heart and mind to believe it works, when i go the 4 way crossing i scratch my chin close my eyes, clear my head and the light beeps. its all a matter of relaxation and picture the exact scene if the spell worked in your head
