This is a warranty replacement engine.
There are several decoders for the block numbers for these engine on the web and all require the block serial # as well as this code.
This is the block casting number for a Chevy 305, build between 1976 and 1979.
The 010 block was the most common 350 block. It can also be used to make a 302 or 327.
NO. There are all KINDS of V-8 small block engines. 265,307,305,267,327,400,350 and so on. There are all kinds of Big block V-8 engines too. Just because it is a V-8 don't mean that its a big block are small block.
What Chevy engine block has the castin I mean casting number 397004
Either a blown head gasket or a cracked block possibly
It is the water hose thast goes from the intake manifold, into the water pump. It by passes the thermostat.
all half-ton pickup had small block and 3/4-ton and 1-ton had big block
You must mean the head not the block. Yes it can but use teflon tape.
That all depends on what you mean by "fit". If it is originally an Olds motor, then any small block Olds will drop right in.If it's a V-6 you are going to have to change frame mount locations to drop in any V-8. If it's originally a Chevy V-8 engine, then any small block Chevy will drop right in.If you want to do a little fabricating just about any engine will fit in that car. I've seen big block Chevys in many of them. For this swap, you really have to watch the clearance around the A/C box....if so equipped.
cracked heads or block
Sounds like you need to replace the thermostat.
It is screewed into the engine block, behind the distributor. I mean right dead behind it.
