∙ 11y agoWhen males are born, they are born with a covering over the glans of the penis in new Born's this covering is still fused with a membrane to glans of the penis and this becomes disconnected over time, leading to a situation where this skin can be retracted to expose the glans penis completely. the foreskin or prepuce as it is called is a very sensitive tubular organ with a mucoussal inner lining designed to protect and help lubricate the glans of the penis as well as add pleasurable sensation in masturbation and sexual intercourse. To circumcise means to cut this protective covering away from the penis leaving the glans total exposed. the main reason for doing this is religion and religious culture with a relatively mall contingent doing it for reasons of health or hygiene even though this flys in the face of all known conventional medical advise.
