If someone "clubs" an animal, it means that they strike it with a hard, heavy object. This is a painful, cruel, and brutal way to kill anything.

There are several reasons that an animal will die from being clubbed. In an individual situation, it could be one cause or a combination of causes that make the animal die. Here are a few:

1: Concussion. Concussion is when the brain shakes violently inside the skull. Ridges on the inside of the skull then cut brain fibers, and cause bleeding. An animal can survive a mild concussion, but if it is severe it will die. This only happens if the victim is struck in the head.

2. Internal bleeding: If the victim is hit hard enough, its blood vessels may be broken inside of its body, and it will bleed inside of the body. If this is severe enough, it can be fatal.

3. Probably the most likely cause of death for a clubbing victim is organ damage. For example, if an animal is hit in the head, the skull may break, and its fragments will be forced into the brain causing severe bleeding and death. A similar thing can happen if it is hit in the chest, except that it is pieces of the ribs being forced into the lungs and/or heart that causes bleeding. Being hit in the spine can break the back and cause pyralysis.
