When you get braces tightened it does not hurt that much it just feels like pressure on your teeth. What the dentist does is:
1. Looks at your teeth. (NOT PAINFUL)
2. Takes the wire out. (FEELS WEIRD)
3. Takes the brackets off. (A LITTLE PRESSURE)
4. Cleans you teeth. (NOT PAINFUL)
5. Puts a new wire in. (HE POKES YOU IN THE BACK OF THE MOUTH WITH THE WIRE THAT HURTS A LITTLE)
6. Asks you what color brackets you want. (BEST PART)
7. Put the brackets on. (THIS IS WHEN YOU FEEL THE PRESSURE, BUT STILL NOT PAINFUL)
8. Tightens the wire. He also cuts the wire shorter. (NOT PAINFUL)
Then you leave THATS it... HAHA I know I was a little scared the first time I went but then the dentist tightened them and it went by quick it only takes about 15 minutes...

Braces are uncomfortable at first and quiet painful when they tighten them and but the wire on. but once you are used to them you will forget you have them

If you get spacers, it feels like a really bad headache. Then, the actual braces feel like a half inch metal on your teeth. If you run your tongue over them, you might cut it. When they are tightened, it feels like a really bad headache. When I first got braces, I had to eat a lot of soup, smoothies, and sweet potatoes because it's hard to chew until 2-4 weeks. But, definitely brush your teeth everyday when you get them.

To me the braces doesn't hurt. Before thinking of getting braces think of a person putting super glue on your teeth it doesn't hurt that bad. Then you can choose your color for your braces 1 time every month. But if you put your braces like when you are 17 it hurts more so I recommend you to do your braces as soon as possibleI took out my braces already. =]
Spacers and how to remove them?
Spacers are the rubber bands that your orthodonist might put in between your teeth before about 2-3 weeks before you get braces. They are usually baby blue. It's kind of like getting braces. They hurt the first day or two, but the pain eventually fades away. Before getting braces, your orthodonist will remove your spacers with a scissor/tweezer like device before adding your braces.
