A gizzard is an organ in a bird that is used to grind seeds and nuts before it reaches the stomach. As you may know, birds don't have teeth, so they need some way to grind food. The stomachs asids are not strong enough to break down the seeds and nuts that the birds eat, so the gizzard does most of the hard work before it gets to the stomach.
