Nothing in particular. The snake-on-a-staff symbol is the Rod of Asclepius who is just about as unrelated to Hades as it is possible for any two gods in the same mythology to be. (Asclepius is supposed to be one of Apollo's sons; since Apollo is the son of Zeus, this would make Hades Asclepius' great-uncle).

In the US, the Rod of Ascleptius (god of Medicine) is often confused with the Caduceus, the symbol of Mercury (god of Commerce and Messengers), which has wings and two snakes rather than one, to the extent that most people don't recognize that they're two separate symbols and use them interchangeably.
