hallowed be thy name, you mean? Hallowed means holy, or to make holy, so it means, holy be thy name. Basically, it's saying that God's name is to be holy or is holy. Also, it's reiterating, don't say the lord's name in vain.

The Greek word in The Bible is 'hagiazo'. Found approx 25 times.

King James Version takes this one Greek word and translates it 3 different ways into English. Once as 'be holy'; once as 'hallow'; and the rest as 'sanctified'. Why they did this 3 different ways, we don't know.

The New World Translation is consistent in translating the Greek word each time as 'sanctified/sanctify'.

The American Heritage Dictionary defines hallowed as, "sanctified; consecrated; highly venerated . . ." To hallow is "to make or set apart as holy. To respect or honor greatly; revere." It refers to someone whom we should treat with awe and respect because they deserve it.

When we pray for God's name to be 'sanctified'; we are making known to our Father, that we look forward to the time when ALL CREATION treats God with the respect he deserves. This includes recognizing that God has 'moral standards' for mankind; recognizing that God has 'righteous requirements' for mankind.

God's 'name', or God's 'reputation' has been smeared by the blatant disrespect of mankind towards his righteous moral standards. Others have tarnished God by attributing the concept of 'eternal torment' upon him. They have 'labeled' him with this horrible personality. Therefore God's holy name or reputation needs to be 'sanctified'. It needs to be 'cleaned up'. The next part of the Lord's Prayer indicates that 'God's Kingdom' is the means used, to get this 'sanctification' accomplished.

What is the best model for prayer?

Jesus himself is the best model for prayer. That's where we get The Lord's Prayer. "Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name..." He told us that we should pray to our Father, not to Mary or the Saints; and that we should ask for forgiveness, and ask for what we need, even though he already knows! He prayed often, and preferred it to be a private conversation with God, not a show. We are meant to have a personal relationship with the Lord, like you would your father or mentor.

What version of the Bible is this 'your father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name'?

This is commonly known as "The Lord's prayer" and can be found in Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11':1-4. It appears in most Bibles.

What does the Scripture mean Who art in Heaven?

It is part of the 'model prayer' Jesus taught the people to pray to God - Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name (see Matthew 6:9). God the Father lives in the 3rd and highest heaven until the New Heaven comes down to the New Earth and the God family is fully one, spiritually.
