Clumsy.
The Camel was extremely maneuverable and agile. In the hands of an experienced pilot it was supposed to be a great machine to drive fly. It had an excellent view - unhindered so it was easier to spot enemies diving from above. It could make very quick and steep turns which made it deadly in a dogfight. The very features that made it a great fighter aircraft were the same ones that made it deadly to inexperienced pilots. A hamfisted pilot could stall out the Camel because he didn't understand the light touch it took to make sharp turns.
