It helps you to understand every class. If you mean you have something from every class on one day, that can get frustrating so you need to take it one step at a time. Work on your hardest classes first - do one assignment at a time and then take 5-10 minutes off to stretch, get a snack or do a little exercise. Slowly but surely wins the race.
Caution: Do homework and study in class.
Teachers assign homework to help you understand the material - so long as there are students who are having trouble in the class, there will be homework.
You will probably get around one hour of work per class, though not every class will give you homework every single day.
The teacher first has to plan what homework to give -- it has to help you learn whatever lesson you had that day. Then, the teacher has to decide how much homework is fair. Then, the teacher has to grade every single piece of homework from every kid in every class they teach!
Having homework every day can benefit you by reinforcing what you learned in class, helping you practice and improve your skills, and fostering a sense of responsibility and time management. It can also prepare you for exams and develop a deeper understanding of the subject matter.

There could be many reasons. It might be that you are not listening well in class. It could also be that the homework itself is confusing. Ask other students if they are having trouble understanding the homework and if they are, talk to the teacher about it. If others are not having problems understanding it, it might be that you need some extra help with it.
Homework has a significant role on your overall grades. But it may differ on how your teachers are. To keep up with your class and always keep high grade scores I suggest you do your homework.
Not having any homework on the weekends means that students get a break from homework, and can do things they like to do without having to think about getting homework done.
Extra homework is typically given as practice for students in areas where they may be having difficulties. Class time being limited, just about the only other option is to give extra work that is to be done outside of school, homework.
