What does inheritability mean?

It means the ability to be inherited. Most tangible objects which can be owned can be inherited, that is, passed on to the next generation after the owner's death. Intangible things are less likely to be inheritable. Rank, for example. Your father may be a Colonel, but that doesn't mean that if he dies, you get to be a Colonel too.

This applies also to genetics. If you have blue eyes because your parents do, then blue eyes are inheritable. But if you have your arm amputated, you do not have one-armed children--that is not inheritable. Many scientists study the inheritability of a number of human characteristics.

Explain how a pedigree can be used to predict genetic inheritability.?

- A pedigree is a family tree that shows how certain traits or conditions are passed down through generations. It can predict genetic inheritability because it tracks certain traits or diseases in a family which predicts the likelihood of someone inheriting it.

Is a deformed coccyx inheritable?

I am unsure if this provides any evidence of inheritability, but I have a deformed coccyx and so does my Mother

What mechanisms must be in place in order for evolution to occur?

For evolution to occur, there must be genetic variation within a population, inheritability of these genetic traits from one generation to the next, differential survival and reproduction based on these traits (natural selection), and long periods of time for changes to accumulate across generations.

Why do people marry each other?

for love and everylasting life with the personAnswer:Marriage was originality a convenient format to establish inheritability of titles, power, goods and land. In modern times many government programs such as health care, property rights, the control of children, insurance and other matters are tied to marital status. All other aspects of marriage (sex, cohabitation etc.)do not require government control.

Can autism be inherited sexually?

It cannot be acquired sexually. However, it can be inherited genetically. While all direct causes for autism are not completely known, there are some studies that indicate that parent with particular autism or autism-like symptomology can contibute to the likelihood that autism will surface in their children, thus establish a possible link to inheritability of autism or autism spectrum disorders. There are links to reelin gene mutations that also give rise to autism as well.

Why must an adaptation be inheritable if it is to cause a population to evolve?

An adaptation must be inheritable in order to be passed down from one generation to the next. If an adaptation is not inheritable, it will not be maintained in the population over time through natural selection, and therefore will not lead to evolution. Inheritability ensures that the adaptive trait can increase in frequency within a population over generations.
