Every state elects 2 senators to the US Senate.
In every set of three consecutive congressional elections, every state elects one U.S. Senator in each of two of them and does not elect a Senator in the other one. The next congressional election in which Missouri does not elect a U.S. Senator is the election of 2014.
Electoral votes determine the President of the United States. Every state and DC are awarded a certain number of electoral votes with which to elect the President. The number is the total number of representative the state has in Congress in both houses total. Since every state has two senators and at least one representative to the House, every state has at least 3 electoral votes. The states choose as many electors as it has electoral votes and these electors elect the president. The electors are elected by popular vote in each state and each candidate for elector swears in advance whom he will vote for.
We re-elect every two years and they are aloud to serve as many terms as they like.

The U. S. Constitution requires an election every two years. In every even-numbered year, every federal congressional district in the U. S. elects a Representative to the U. S. House for a two-year term, and two thirds of the states elect one third of the U. S. Senators for six-year terms. In every second federal election (in every year that is evenly divisible by four), the voters of each state also choose the electors who will elect the president and vice president for four-year terms.
Some states still elect judges (although it's not a terribly good idea). You have the Treasurer. You're state senators or representatives are elected. They state Attorney General is elected and in my state we elect the Auditor.
