Dogs don't show signs of pain or paralysis like humans after a stroke. Look for these symptoms:

  • Head tilt
  • Lethargy (lack of movement or appearing very weak)
  • Loss of balance or moving in circles
  • Turning the wrong way when called
  • Eating out of one side of the food bowl
  • Tongue hanging out of mouth but not panting
  • Apparent blindness

Keep in mind not all of these signs are just stroke symptoms. When treated, most dogs can regain motor control within several weeks.
