Hope this helps, I've just been to the vet with my dog and was told she has a low temperature. She has an intestinal infection which has cause sickness and diarrhoea. He said that when their immune system fights off these infections a low temperature is a symptom. Other symptoms she has include very red skin and of curse lethargy.

I can only speculate that many conditions may cause a low temperature due to the dog's immune system fighting it off.

As an aside, apparently sickness is more dehydrating than diarrhoea, and both symptoms together mean you must check your dog's hydration doing the scruff and tacky gum test. Just thought I'd add that as it would have relieved my concerns had I known.

Don't know if it helps.
