The Book of Genesis had at least four principal authors, each of whom perceived God in different ways, according to the geographical and chronological background of the author. One of the authors of Genesis was the Yahwist, or 'J' source, who portrayed God as anthropomorphic, with human characteristics. Thus we see, for example, God walking in the Garden of Eden in the cool of the day and talking to Adam - just like a man. This compares with, for example, the Elohist ('E' source) who portrayed God as a transcendental being whom one could not look at, and the Priestly Source who saw God as supremely powerful.
When Genesis chapter 1 says that God made man in his image, this parallels the Priestly viewpoint. Perhaps we could say that the author really made God in the image of man, rather than the other way around.
We humans are made in God's image. Genesis 1:27 says, "And God proceeded to create the man in his image, in God's image he created him, male and female he created them." Being made in God's image does not mean that we were made to look like him because he is a spirit person, John 4:24 says, " God is a spirit." When he created us in his image it means that he created us with his qualities, and the ability to use them.
There is no difference! God made Adam out of dust to reveal to us how amazing He is. I mean, can anyone in this world create a human being out of dust?!? God also made Adam in his own image. The answer to all questions about the creation of man is in the first couple chapters of Genisis.
In Genesis, it says that God made man out of the dust of the Earth. God made man out of dust and in His image for the Garden of Eden.
God is said to have made people in his image. This can be interpreted either way. It could mean to be like him or what he had imagined.
No, because God isn't physical. Being in God's image refers to our soul, our conscience, our self-awareness. See also:Can you show that God exists?
God made man special of all the animals. He made man in his own image. He wanted man to be like him. What went wrong? Adam sinned.
Creation Today - 2011 Is It Man in the Image of God or God in the Image of Man 1-6 was released on: USA: 2011
The Scripture says that man was made in the Image of God and the woman (means out of the man) was made in the image of man. Paul in his Epistle verifies this. So if put in a mathematical equation with the = sign meaning 'made in the image of,' we would have: Man = God; Woman = Man; therefore Woman = God. So we both are made in the image of God. A second thing about we humans, both male and female, is that we have the awesome power of 'mind' which lets us know that we know and how we can think of time in all dimensions to learn from and plan ahead for, and have fantastic creative abilities. These are all characteristics of the God 'kind' which is what mankind is made in the image of and not any animal kind, etc. We are unique and given the earth and all upon it to manage - though we haven't done the best of jobs like God would.
I'm guessing you are referring to the statement in the Bible in Genesis "God made man in his own image." We are not told if the animals are made in anyone's image.
All humans are made in the image of God (Genesis 5:1), in that they have an eternal soul and free-will.
Man is the creation of his own image and not the image of any thing or any one else he is his own god
According to Genesis chapter one, man is a creation of God made in his (Gods) image.
