It is uncertain where the statement originally came from, but there is a saying 'He has no hands but our hands, no feet but our feet.' Perhaps it is a paraphrase of Jesus' teaching where He states 'If you did it unto the least of these my brethren you did it unto me.' This, in reference to good works of kindness done to people. It is also true that Jesus, not being present physically on the earth at this time has delegated the physical work of spreading the good news and showing compassion to those in need to His people, the Christians. He, of course through the Holy Spirit creates new life and power to serve Him, but Christians perform or 'live out' the power and love of God, particularly when they continue to do such in the face of growing persecution, even in supposedly tolerant western societies.
