Surprisingly, frightening dreams are fairly normal during pregnancy. They express the pregnant mother's anxiety and concern for her unborn child, and as such function as stress release. Such dreams do NOT predict miscarriage, stillbirth or problems with the pregnancy. In fact, one study shows that pregnant women who have worried dreams actually have fewer complications at delivery. One theory is that the dreams provide a sort of practice or rehearsal for the real delivery, allowing the mom to be more confident and relaxed. See link below for further examples and information.
