The creator of the universe is a jealous God because he created people to worship him, and he does not want Satan to be the object of our affection, or the one we turn to in our lives. We were created by him, for him and he wants it to stay that way.

ANSWER

By claiming God is a "Jealous" God, this would in fact make him a sinner by his own standard's. Envy being among the most acknowlegdeable "Seven Sins", having basically the same meaning as Jealousy being a lighter version, would therefore make God an imperfect being. This is one of the many contradictions of religion.

Rebuttal: Sin is disobedience to God. Therefore God cannot sin. Jealousy is perfectly justified when the real meaning here is considered: The only being of absolute worth (as opposed to us who only have worth conveyed upon us by God's attention) should be treated with the awe and respect which is his due.

God himself says that he is a jealous God, as he says in Exodus 34.14. For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name [is] Jealous, [is] a jealous God:

Song of Solomon 8.6 says that jealosy is as cruel as the grave.

Jesus is God. God said "I am a jealous God". As we tend to view jealousy as a bad thing. However, God has every right to be jealous of our misplaced affections, since he is Holy.
