No it wont, only the 2.2l engine's transmission will work with the 2.2l and same goes with the other engine.
alternator is probably not charging. you need to fix this NOW. new alternator is likely the only repair.
A couple does not only mean 2! Sometimes, a couple usally goes up to 10.
Blower motor resistor is bad. It is a little circuit board with resistors on it that changes voltage to the blower motor. When it goes bad, you get full speed only.

There are 2 capacities. The capacity of the pan only and the total capacity of the entire system, including the torque converter. The owners manual lists these.
In the plenum tube that goes from the air filter box to the intake manifold. It is the only thing plugged into the large rubber tube ontop of the engine.

You can't turn on the ETS manually. It only comes on when the computer senses wheel spin. You should notice it coming on during a heavy rain or when accelerating quickly from a dead stop.
Code 44 would only apply to a 1995 or older Cavy. In 1996 and later they use OBD-II which uses P0XXXX codes. Code 44 - Oxygen Sensor indicates lean condition.
If it is a manual, and like a 1997 cavalier, it will be located below the brake fluid reservoir, buried under hoses and is marked "trans". I was able to get to it in a 1997 from above, but scraped the heck out of my arm. Probably best to get at it from below, but so far I have only tried once, so don't know if from below is easier!
