There are several potential causes. The most likely would be intestinal worms, which are common in puppies. Other options include impacted or full anal glands, nerve irritation or simply the puppy enjoys a good scratch.

If they are scooting their bottom on the floor to scratch it, or rubbing it against things to scratch it, it could mean worms. A trip to the Vet with a fresh stool sample in a ziplock bag would be a good idea to find out. In the meantime, be sure to wash your hands and instruct children to wash their hands frequently after touching the pet to avoid transfer of any parasites to you or the children. It could also mean fleas or ticks.

If it is an itchy bottom above the tail instead of under it, sometimes that can mean fleas, skin allergy, fungal infections, ticks, or dry skin (that can also be a sign of worms or parasites). A good evaluation by a vet is the best plan in any of those scenarios.

If your dog is scooting, or dragging its bottom along the ground this usually indicates that it has blocked/full anal glands or worms. Either way, I would recommend taking your dog to the vet. Expressing the anal glands usually relieves the discomfort, and the dog should stop scooting.

If your dog is scratching at the base of its tail (lower back), then it is likely to have fleas. Using flea treatment regularly (most are monthly) would be a good place to start. If your dog keeps scratching, take them to the vet to see what they think.

Your dog may have a food or contact allergy. Removing plants that are known to cause reactions (check for your local area), or trying your dog on a novel diet (such as fish and potato, instead of beef/chicken) may help to stop the itchiness.

If your boy dog goes on top of the girl dog does that mean the girl dog will get pregnant or do the HAVE to be butt to butt?

They actually have to "tie". Which means complete intercourse. His penis will swell inside the female like a ballon. Until this balloon is completely empty they will be stuck together. After the tie, the male will usually jump down and turn around, which is why they're butt to butt. They will remain stuck for 10-15 minutes. Hope this helps. www.OurLovableLabs.com http://ourlovablelabs.webs.com/
