When cats are fed up with something or someone, they say in a hiss, "Back off, pal!" Like when another cat is playing with them or licking them. Growling also means the same thing. Here are a few translations.

Meow - I'm hungry/Feed me

Mew - Pet me

ROAW - I'm hungry, so feed me now!!!

Spit (sounds like Fft, fft, fft) - Leave me alone

Hiss - Back off, pal!

Growl - Get away from me!

Yowl - Help Me!

Screech - Help me! Going to die!

Caterwaul - looking for a mate!

Shriek - Help! Help! Help!

Also, there are movements, like tail-twitches, back-twitches, anything like that.

Curving the back toward the ground - Don't pet me.

Tip of Tail Twitching Only - I see a bird/moth/whatever cat sees

Whole Tail Twitching - I'm really annoyed, PAL, so if your really tired of living, do that again

Tail Lash - Get away from me, NOW!

Flattened Ears - You'd better watch out, or I'm about to attack you

Bared Teeth - STAY AWAY FROM ME OR SUFFER CONSIQUENCES!

Roll over on back (also called cats' pajamas) - I surrender myself to you. Do whatever you want to me

I hope the meows, yowls and body language helped you understand your cats a little bit better. There is also kitten language, and I can tell you about that in the Discussion Page if you want. So, I hope I helped.

~have a blessed day~

Hissing is usually a sign the kitten is afraid, annoyed, or sometimes, over-excited (often in play).

If a hamster makes a crying sound, it is TERRIFIED. Let it back in it's cage to calm down, or let it run on the floor, but make sure it is undisturbed.

What does it mean when a kitten hisses at you and scratch you?

If a cat hisses at and scratches you it could mean many things. The cat could simply not like you. It could be angry or be scared. Often a cat or kitten who is feeling threatened will hiss and scratch in an attempt to defend itself. A kitten could also be over stimulated and warning you that it can't take anymore play. I would advise leaving the kitten alone until it calms down and then approach it gently and calmly before petting it.

Do Siamese cats have issues with being around other cats my cat hisses a lot whenever shes around another cat is this typical?

I think that most cats will hiss at another animal or cat if they were not brought up with another animal or cat. My cat is not Siamese, and she hisses at other animals and other cats, so I think that it is normal behavior for all cats, not just Siamese cats.
