Loud clicking noises are made by the front teeth rubbing together. This is known as bruxing. All rodent do it. Some hamster owners' misinterpret it as a sign of aggression, when in fact it means the complete opposite. The two incisors in the upper and lower jaw continuously grow through out the life of the hamster; these normally receive continuous wear as the upper and lower contact each other when eating normally. On occasions you may hear it periodically when he is awake and stood still, they don't do it whilst moving. They do it mostly during sleep, this is a subconscious behaviour. It may also be of interest to know they only do it when relaxed and content.

AND,

She is telling you that you are really aggravating her and if you don't knock it off, she'll bite you. If you want her to trust you, remember her hearing isn't so good, and her vision is worse, so talk gently to her as you slowly reach for her in her cage. Scoop her up quickly with both hands. Hold her firmly so she won't fall or think she's going to fall, and keep talking nicely to her. It also helps to feed her a special treat that you only feed her when you hold her. I never feed mine parsley in the cage. I only feed him that when I hold him and now when I go to the cage, HE comes to ME! She will also benefit from a schedule. Mine knows that when the TV goes off at night, it's cuddle time, and he starts squealing with anticipation! My husband thinks it is hilarious. You will win her over in no time!

They can make noise when in pain but the squealing (or squeaking) sound they can make is more a sound they use when they are scared or upset about something. For instance: when my dwarf hamster got her snout stuck in between the bars of her playpen the first time she was in it she started squealing even though there couldn't have been any real pain involved. She was frightened by it and didn't know what to do. She's never made another sound like that even when she was in pain from her teeth growing too long and sticking into the roof of her mouth before I could get her to the vet. Generally speaking, animals can be very quiet about pain but very noisy when afraid or facing something that startles them.

In general, no - a sick hamster will typically make less noise than usual and will hide away from everything. A sharp humming noise may indicate distress or anxiety.

Yes... beside running on the wheel, hamsters may squeak if frightened, annoyed or upset. Sometimes they squeak with excitement too.

What noises do hamsters make?

Hamsters do not generally make noise, but sometimes they will react in extreme situations.Screaming - when the hamster is in extreme pain or fear, for example if it's paw get's stuck. This will sound more like a squeak to humans, but will be an expression of great distress to hamsters.Sneezing - often mistaken for general noise, hamster sneezes are tiny and usually harmless. They only sneeze when ill or when they have dust in their noses.Snoring - it might sound strange, but I have had several hamsters who snore. It is very quiet and sounds just like them breathing heavily, but it is in fact snoring. They don't make a lot a nosie, but they might make a squeek nosie sometimes.

Do hamsters make a noise when its in pain?

Hamsters arnt used to noise so when your around a hamster make sure a baby or yourself arnt sreaming or shouting because the hamster will become stressed and annoyyed and wil try to run away and escape and you would not want that to happen because you might not acctually see your hamster again which will be upsetting for you.

Do hamsters make lots of noise. If so would you recommend me keeping one in my room but i am quite a light sleeper?

Hamsters usually do make a lot of noise. They chew on the bars of the cage, their wheel may be squeaky, and their digging often is noisy. If you get a good hamster wheel and a cage without bars, then your hamster is probably alright to be in your room.

I have never heard a horse make that noise. I suppose it is possible. Normally they scream a scream that is very loud and distinctly horse.
