Vision is a complex phenomenon, involving eyes, nerves and brain elaboration.

The optical image on the retina, for example, is flat and 3D vision of far objects, that is not due to binocular effect, is completely an effect of brain elaboration.

If optical nerves are cut, for example, a person is blind even if eyes are fully functional. Also selected nervous diseases exist inhibiting brain reception of the vision signal and causing either false vision (for example black and white or absence of 3D perception), or even blindness.
