Not quite sure what you mean by 100% gas. If you mean straight gas out of the pump then yes, it is fine to run in a mower. I recommend an octane rating of 92 for best results and whenever possible no ethanol in the fuel

Usually, the higher the number, the higher the grass will be cut. The higher of which number? If you have a riding mower, the numbers will be on the slot where the the lever for the blades is located. If you have a regular push mower, there will be no numbers. In that case, the higher slot that you use will mean a shorter cut of the grass. Okay, what and where is the slot located?
I assume you mean a starter solenoid. Look at how the old one is hooked up. Put the new one in that way. ...and disconnect the battery first.
If by "overloading" you mean flooding (too much fuel), two reasons are (1) the carburetor needle valve is "wide open" or the float is stuck in the open position.
