It's actually just heterozygous. That means that one allele is dominant and one allele is recessive. The result is a dominant trait, but the recessive gene may come back in future generations.

There are two alleles for each trait. For example, the allele for brown eyes could be B. If a person has just one B, they have brown eyes (BB or Bb). b is blue eyes. You have to have bb to get blue eyes. (One comes from your mom and one comes from your dad). If something is heterozygous, they have a small letter and a big letter (Bb). Answer: It means there is one dominant trait and one recessive trait present in an organism. Therefore, organism would be called heterozygous. Heterozygous means hybrid

When an organism has a gene with two different alleles, that means it is heterozygous dominant. One way to remember this is that the prefix hetero- means dissimilar, or opposite.

3:1 homozygous dominant, heterozygous dominant, heterozygous dominant and homozygous recessive.

What is the difference between homzyguos and heterozyous?

Homozygous recessive: is when the genes are both recessive Homozygous dominant: is when the genes are both dominant (traits show) Heterozygous dominant: is when one gene is dominant and one is recessive (traits show) Heterozygous recessive: is the same as heterozygous dominant but the dominant genes are inactive

What is a person who has one recessive allele for a trait and one dominant allele for the same trait and is able to pass in the trait on to their offspring?

That is heterozygous. Some scientist call these "hybrids"(no joke)The person is heterozygous for that trait and will have the dominant phenotype. An organism with both a dominant and recessive allele for a specific trait is called an heterozygote. They are heterozygous for this trait.

What are the names of the genotypes?

Homozygous dominant (Ex:AA) Heterozygous (Ex:Aa) Homozygous recessive (Ex:aa)

What does does heterozygous mean?

Heterozygous means that you are carrying 1 dominant trait and 1 recessive trait. If an allelic pair has one dominant and other recessive gene it is called heterozygous.

What determines whether an organism is heterozygous or homozygous dominant?

The second allele. If a plant is heterozygous tall, it is Tt. In this case, the dominant trait is tall, T and recessive is short, t. There are two options for it to be dominant, heterozygous (Tt) or homozygous (TT)

What is an organism with one dominant and one recessive gene for a trait?

that organism is a heterozygous one which contain the traits of recessive as well as dominant genes.

What is when an individual has two copies of a dominant allele?

The person is considered to be heterozygous dominant. Heterozygous refers to having to of the same allele (AA or AA). dominant means AA not AA

What is a dominant alle?

The dominant allele is the one that determines the phenotype in a heterozygous individual.

What is crossing a homozygous dominant or homozygous recessive with a heterozygous?

There is a 50% chance of a homozygous dominant and a 50% chance of a heterozygous.

What genotype will be produced by a heterozygous?

The trait that would be expressed in a heterozygous genotype would be the dominant trait. If one allele is dominant then it will be expressed.
