That dream is beautiful in many ways. But dreams being the strange and quirky things they are, it is not a dream about wanting to die in order to be with the person who died. It is an expression that the dead person is very much with me as I continue to live. It may be, but is not necessarily, the kind of dream a person might have who is grieving for the loss of a loved one. It could also be a way of telling myself that the good things in my friend who died are things that are in me also. It could just as easily relate to the disagreeable things I remember about my deceased friend, and recognize in myself. This may not seem like a satisfying answer, but consider: While you are actually dreaming, you have NO awareness of your waking reality, unless you are fortunate enough to enjoy lucid dreams from time to time. During the dream state itself (be honest and you will agree) there is only a hazy or even magical sense of reality, if there is any sense of reality at all. If that is true, then how could anyone argue that there is a realistic sense of death while dreaming? It is all an expression on a deep level of things that we are working out in life. And that is amazing.
