What does it mean when you dream of yourself dead?

All things that are dying or dead transform into something else. As examples:

• Plants break down to fertilize and "give life" to the soil, which in turn gives life to other plants.
• Animals in natural habitats die and through their deaths, transformation occurs by giving life to everything from insects who feed on the carcass to new plants. Even mold and fungi can breed on "death".
• When we look at a canyon that was formed from millions of years of water, we can either focus on the stream (is it still flowing? or is it now a dry creek bed?) or we can focus only on the majesty of rock walls towering above us. Or-- we can think of the transformation the water made on the once flat rock, continuing to etch a channel deeper and deeper into the flat rock, breaking away pieces and silt until finally it formed a canyon (example: The Grand Canyon). A transformation process created something new, even though rock is considered 'dead'.
• Almost all religions believe that death begins a transformation process that leads to a new "life". In Christianity, the new life is Spirit going to Heaven. Other religions believe we are re-born into a new body.

So when we dream of ourselves being dead, it often means you are going through some sort of transformation, or leaving one aspect of yourself as you become more of another aspect. Much of the way you'd interpret your dream is by reviewing what is going on in your present life.

For example, a woman who's been married and dependent on a husband for 20 years might dream of herself "dying" as she adjusts to a new life after divorce.

A young man may be going off to college and has a "death dream" as he moves figuratively and literally out of the sheltered life in his parents' home and sets out to create his own new life.

Someone who fears what the future holds but nevertheless is experiencing that life is changing in a major way may have a death dream that represents both the new changes as well as the fear, grief, and wish for things to remain as they were.

Since dreams use symbolic language and imagery, almost all death dreams have little to do with a physical death.

this can mean lots of things, if you dream you see yourself lying their an people walking past like at your funeral then it could mean you want to be the centre of attention or will be soon.

Death usually means the end to a part of your life that you have been experiencing lately something you need to let go of.
