The following items of any relevance to touching that part of the skin are:

and most importantly, DON'T SCRATCH IT! Fight it with all your might, slap the area or run it under cold water, just don't scratch! It's ridiculous how ugly the results become.
I suffer from this too.
How does a rash on dog look like after Poinson Ivy
Moth balls should not cause a rash just from touching the outside of it. If you cut on open and handle it for a while, it could cause a rash on sensitive skin.
Ringworms are a common rash or even just exzema. It might not be a rash but just an allergic reaction to a food or substance. Poison ivy is also a rash that children could get from being outside.
You're infectious for up to three weeks PRIOR to the rash showing. Once the rash appears, you are no longer infectious.
From WebMD: The rash usually appears 8 to 48 hours after your contact. But it can occur from 5 hours to 15 days after touching the plant. The rash usually takes more than a week to show up the first time you get it on your skin. But the rash develops much more quickly (within 1 to 2 days) after later contacts. The rash will continue to develop in new areas over several days but only on the parts of your skin that had contact with it or those parts where it was spread by touching.

No, this would be very bad. First metronidazole cream is a yeast infection cream - it has an anti-fungal medication in it that will do nothing to clear up an allergic rash and could make the rash worse. Second, metronidazole cream is formulated in a lotion base that it not safe for eating; however, your dog can easily lick the cream off the irritated portion of his belly and could have severe reactions to that medication. Third, it is pretty unusual for a dog to have a specific rash from grass just on his belly - most dogs run around, jump, bounce and roll on the grass when they finallly get out in the spring. It is more likely the rash is a skin infection that needs to be treated with antibiotics from your veterinarian.
The rash is fine, red and rough in texture. It blanches on pressure. Check the link below, Scarlet Fever is #18.
