Usually when someone sleep talks, they're in a deep sleep. Most of the time, when you sleep-talk, your not really talking; it's not a language. Like talking like a baby. When people sleep-talk, usually they don't make sense.
Sometimes when people sleep-talk, they MAY sleep-walk. Some people do this when there in love, had a nightmare, or just to do something. No particular reason sometimes.

∙ 12y agoIt means that you are in a REM state of sleep - also called 'dreaming'.
In dreams we often hear voices, music, see action and events, and 'live' in a dream-scape where pretty much anything can happen.
Some psychologists suggest we have two brains within our head - our higher functioning frontal lobe and our more primitive cerebellum - the cerebellum is primarily that part of your brain that controls all unreasoned thinking. Thinking which simply occurs as if on an auto-pilot, as it were, controlling everything that your frontal lobe doesn't have to reason over. (uncontrolled breathing, heart beat, digestion, fight or flight responses).
In sleep our 'neural net' or unconscious thoughts just might be communicating to this duality of function within our head, and it is this that we perceive of as 'voices'.
'Voices' are also a function of our 'ego'. If we are still we often hear ourself think in the form of an 'inner' voice . . . like, "Oh wow, look at that there . . . someone is picking their nose, yuk . . . hey that's a nice colour . . . back to work . . . this is boring . . . not long to lunch though . . . ." Et cetera, et cetera.
When asleep, or almost asleep, this might be the 'voice' you are referring to.
