Somehow those little knots were intermittent along his stomach and back. We had a vet take a look and were told not to worry. Sure enough a few weeks later, the knots erupted and a pus-like substance leaked from it for a couple of days. The most difficult part for our puppie was making sure he did not scratch away his bandages. We kept the area clean and dry and bandages were changed through out the day. My suggestion to you, have your dog seen by your family veterinarian. If you havent established a relationship with one, do so as soon as possible. Love peace and happiness, Sugar Rae
This could be an umbilical hernia, where the umbilical cord join hasn't healed over properly. sometimes this is caused by the mother licking / pulling on the cord at birth.
I have had 4 pups with this and 2 had to have operations to close the hole, and 2 were fine and the hole closed on it's own. I would consult your vet for advice - one told me to keep gently massaging the lump so that it went back into the tummy (like a tummy button) but this didn't work - please ask advice from your vet
