If you are asking which one is better, I would say it strongly depends on what you like. If you like the campaign from previous Halo games, I would say Halo 3. Halo 3 ODST is very weird and different. It's still fun though. And there is multiplayer for ODST, it just comes on a different disc.

I would say if you don't own reach then don't buy it. From what I hear, halo 4 is going to be similar to Halo 3.
