It is most likely your coolant temp. sensor. If you face the engine from the front of the vehicle it should be just under the head near the back of the engine on the left. When the sensor is unplugged the fan will stay running all the time. Most likely the sensor is malfunctioning at a certain point. A late camaro running at 200-230 is perfectly normal. The fan should kick in at around 230. Good luck
AnswerThere is a sensor that tells your fan when to kich on, sounds like its shorting out. not likely that the sensor is shorting out. The sensor is located in the radiator and aparently the radiator is getting hot. The causes are many. usually heat is acumulated in the radiator two ways. The water pump isn't circulating the water properly or the radiator has some stoped up cores. the fan is normally used while the car is at idle because there is no air flow while siting still. so theoretically the car wouln't need a fan if the car was in a constant forward motion. Also the thermostat could be causing the problem. To find out what it is for certain the thermostat would have to be removed. the reatach the hose. Fill with coolant and coolant lost. open radiator cap. now start the car. watch the water in the radiator through the filler cap. it should be flowing. if it isn't, its the pump...if it is it either the radiator or thermostat. to check thermostat, put in boiling water and see if it opens. they generally open at 180.0 . other things such as a bad radiator cap or leakes in water lines can cause heat acumulation du to lost pressure in the cooling system making it more difficult to cool. not puting antifreeze is a no no in all vehicles which can case things to rust and stop up.
AnswerIf it takes about 2 minutes for the fan to start and SES light to come on, then you have a faulty component. When the car goes into closed loop a sensor or what not isn't working correctly and the fan will sometimes run pretty much constantly and cause the SES light. Have it scanned and repair the malfunctioning part. It should fix the fan. Unless the temp gauge is reading high, over 200*, then it maybe heat related.
The problem is the air injector pump. Most likely the fuse is blown. Fuse is located in the fuse and relay box under the hood next to the air filter housing. Try replacing the fuse and when doing so, listen for the pump to start running. Should sound like a dentist drill. If the fuse blows again or pump does not run, unplug the pump and reinstall the fuse. The pump is supposed to start when you first start you engine. When engine is cold, the pump runs for 3-5 min. If the circuit is broken by a blown fuse, the SES light will come on when the engine goes into closed loop. Hope this helps.
