Hi The fruit should be eaten after peeling the skin. It has green to brown colour flesh with dark colour seeds the size of small mustard seeds. It is sweet with very mild sour taste. The best way to eat is leave the fruit to ripen for about 10 days (in US climate) when you see the skin kind of getting loose ( akin to old peoples skin in humans). Then it tastes better. In India we have a fruit looks somewhat similar . It is called Chiku in North and Sapota in South. But it tastes way better and it is one of the best fruits of India. It is sweet with good aroma and rich in Iron. But sometimes they are bland, the not so good variety. Indian Chiku , Mangoes, Indian Pineapples , Custard apple are the ultimate fruits of the world. Enjoy RK
As with most fruit juices, kiwano juice should contain the basics of kiwano juice, water, and ascorbic acid. Sometimes the juice is sweetened with beet or cane juice.
The ingredients in a Kiwano sherbert are 2 frozen bananas, 1 cup fresh frozen pineapple chunks, juice of one kiwano, and 2 tablespoons agave nectar.
A Kiwano is a South African fruit, or weed there. A nickname is the gelly melon. It is to be grown in summer conditions.
