Love your neighbor as you love yourself
i think refers to many things, and one of them may be sexual. For pulling down a hedge can mean that you have some sexual interest in your neighbor by evaluating the looks of that persons body, and by also paying attention to that persons behavior in which you may find attractive. second is that you may have love for your neighbor, but pulling down your hedge to pay attention to that person is a different type of love, and i am sure this was not accepted in Benjamin's time, so don't do it. Also this may not be in a sexual way how Benjamin Franklin explained it in literature, ; like your neighbor but don't let them get to comfortable with your presence. i think it means that you must love your neighbor and be nice to them. However, don't trust them or let them in to your personal lives (a hedge is used to separate neighbors).
I have a new garden and love the look of formal English gardens. What is the benefit of raised garden beds with box hedges around them?

well you obviously have never been in love or have been hurt from it. You have to truly be in head over heals love to actually want to care for this person enough to love them. If you dont want to be with them every second of everyday you dont love them. So dont tell anyone you love them if dont because it hurts them later down the road.
