A maggot is the larvae stage of the fly. It is a very good source of protien for survival. It may be eaten with no problem, as your stomach acid will kill it even if you have not ground it up by chewing before swallowing.. The maggot eats entirely on rotting flesh, never healthy flesh. Like Leech's , they still have a place in modern hospital treatment of dieing flesh on the human body.
