Check your owner's Manual located in the glove box. Usually means the engine needs a routine check of fluids or just an oil change.
well in order for anyone to answer that you need to specify what is the make, model, year, and engine type because the program most mechanics use need all that information

Don't you mean 261 and not 271?
I believe you mean suburban, It has a 4.3 L engine with a timing chain. Chevrolet didn't badge the Tahoe until 1995.
Time to change your oil in your engine!
lack of good maintenance. there are lots of reasons, what exactly do you mean?
My older Blazer has a 'check engine' light and also a 'check gauges' light. When the 'check gauges' light is on, check your other gauges like the temp and volt gauges. One of them may be showing something different than normal.
The Maintenance Required Light is not the same as the Check Engine Light. The Maintenance Required Light is telling you that there is scheduled maintenance that needs to be performed. It may mean it needs an oil/filter change. To find out what needs to be done look at the maintenance schedule in your owner's manual.
If you have another light that says Check Engine, then the Service Engine Soon light means to change the oil/filter or perform some other maintenance item as listed in your owner's manual. You will see the other light when you turn on the ignition. If however there is no Check Engine light, this light means there is a problem with the emissions system.
There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.
Yes, it will fit. By fit, I mean fit in the engine bay. You will have to make modifications.
