Yes one beep is OK, the Power on testing of your system has passed. More than one beep is when problems are found.
I suspect RAM problem, replace your RAM, but see your motherboard manual too. But if you have AMI BIOS, then one short beep is RAM problem

Car honks sound like beep beep because the purpose of car honks is to gain attention. The beep beep is just one sound that grabs peoples' attention when one needs it in the car.
Usually, a computer will generate what's called a beep code when a hardware error occurs. Beep codes are sets of tones that are different per error. They are also different among computer manufacturers. The most common beep code is a somewhat long, steady, beep one time during boot. This usually indicates a video card problem. If you have a problem with your RAM, there will be long, repeating tones that persist until the power is turned off. Some computer models will even audibly tell you what the hardware problem is.
Sometimes it means a startup faze has finished, sometimes it means theres a hardware issue, sometimes it means nothing like saying hello. Dont let it bother you unless something is not working properly my custem built desktop always does a single beep after BIOS boots and detects the hadware and i never had trobble with it. It will also beep if new hardware is installed or changed.

In every computer I've seen, one beep means OK.
POST beep or beeps tells you whether there is a problem with the "power on self test". One beep is a good thing and the computer is ok. If you hear several beeps, the self test is telling you something is amiss. For example if you do not have your keyboard and mouse plugged in properly you should hear several beeps.
An ECG (electrocardiograph) machine is the most common one, but several other machines with various purposes also go 'beep'.
